Manslaughter charges have been filed against a woman accused of driving the vehicle that caused someone to die.

Jo Anne Sayetsitty, 34, of Fort Kipp, was charged with voluntary manslaughter and has pled not guilty. She is currently free pending trial, which has yet to be set by the federal courts.

Documents state Sayetsitty was driving the vehicle that caused the death of 41-year-old Lakota Thomas First on August 22, 2019. Both were in Fort Kipp at the time of the incident.

She is accused of unlawfully killing First “by striking him and running over him with her vehicle.”

If convicted, she can face a maximum of 15 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
