Law enforcement locked down Brockton and several local schools after learning of a possible shooting in the works.

The call came to the 911 Dispatch Center Monday, January 3, 2022, at 10:40 a.m., alleging a student at Brockton High School was planning a school shooting, Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick said.

Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Deputies and Fort Peck Tribal Police responded, he said.

For a hour, area schools were locked down while law enforcement investigated the call. It was determined to be a hoax, and there was no danger of a shooting.

Classes at the school continued after the brief interruption,.

Police traced the call to an outside jurisdiction and contacted law enforcement there. One person was arrested in connection with the hoax, Frederick said.
