The US Attorney’s Office in Great Falls charged a New Mexico man with using the internet to stalk and harass a Poplar juvenile girl.

Jicarilla Juan Tiznado, 23, of Farmington, New Mexico, appeared in Great Falls Federal Court on charges of cyber-stalking. He pleaded not guilty and was detained pending further proceedings.

Tribal Criminal Investigator Kenny Trottier said this man actually came to the reservation before to meet this girl. It was after the initial meeting that Tiznado began harassing the victim and then it turned into cyber-stalking.

Police became involved and after about four months of harassment and stalking through Facebook Messenger, text messaging, and SnapChat they gathered their evidence and finally arrested and charged him, Trottier said..

If convicted of the most serious crime, Tiznado faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

The FBI and Fort Peck Law Enforcement investigated the case.
